Then, things begin to gel, the story begins to move, I find myself caring about what happens to these men, particularly Dmitri Mitya and to the two women with whom he is involved. Dostojevskii finishing the book, I understand each of the characters in depth, and what motivates them. It addresses many important issues that have universal implications. The book inspires soul searching, but requires almost inhuman concentration.

Dostojjevski must read if your goal is to read all the classics. He was just deprived of the luxuries to him, they were luxuries that the name Karamazov gave to Ivan.
I identify with the things people say about the Russian classics – there is a magical quality about them to me, as though they were written under divine inspiration. I’m not very far in and will probably have to start over gahbut I need someone to like in this book. The character of Smerdyakov is somewhat portrayed as ‘evil,’ but what about his mind, or the way he posed his challenge to Ivan?
