Fiction Book Review: Gust Front by John Ringo, Author Baen Books $24 (p) ISBN
I enjoyed reading it. Feont before, Ringo has a knack for describing the political and strategic dimensions, and is not afraid of throwing disastrous screwups, unexpected developments and plain old bad luck into the mix.

The author also dives a little bit more into the thinking of the Posleen which opens up some interesting avenues for the following books.
The first half of the book is full of too much technobabble and backstory, and is pretty slow. The focus of the book is the invasion that occurs in Virginia. A lot of the characters that I felt were interesting, ends feeling a little shallow or “skeletal”. Lists with This Book.

This is probably due to the fact that the ratio frnt actual fighting and political bullshit is in favor of the fighting in this installment. The final scene, with the newly promoted to LT Keren, and a comatose Elgan, is one of the most powerful endings to a book I have read in the genre.

No two scenes are exactly the same, or even remotely the same. Having said that, I did enjoy this book in the series more than the first one. Thank God there was a moment to catch our breath, a moment, however brief, of peace—. The resulting carnage will please those who relish high body counts. I thought it was creative and helped make the book interesting. The title of the book refers to the billowing wind that comes before the storm, being a metaphor for the initial and relatively small alien invasion of Earth that takes place in this book. You know, from reading the first, how he is building up the tension to a long climactic battle, this time set on earth. So I really don’t care t This book is a fron. The United States is hunkering down, but the question is: Earth has had some time to prepare for the Posleen invasion, but it may not be enough to stop the onslaught.
