A review, and links to other information about and reviews of Grotesque by Kirino Natsuo. Life at the prestigious Q High School for Girls in Tokyo exists on a precise social axis: a world of insiders and outsiders, of haves and have-nots. One was the Helen of Troy incarnate, a stunningly beautiful girl with an excessive sexual drive, the other a model daughter, a hardworking intelligent student who nagsuo to please her strict father.
This mesmerizing tale of betrayal reveals some sobering truths about Japan’s social hierarchy. There are a few maybe two that I can recall scenes that are violent.
‘It really is a complete fabrication’
Halfway through the book, there is on brief passage in ggrotesque one of the diarists considers the issue. Really the writing is so seamless and so natural, and the progression degression?

And the last few bits about how pathetic we are, we men and women who play games of hatred and love totally blind yet assuming airs. The lines introducing the passage are: Because the author gives multiple accounts of the major events in the book the reader can judge what the truth is. This is the 5th. That in Japan’s stringent, male-dominated culture, “sex is the only way a woman has to control the world”. It’s a great story to read over Christmas. In interviews with DaVinci Sept.
If I were ever to deny a man, I would stop being me. Mar 20, Jessica rated it really liked it Shelves: Si tratta della reazione ai due delitti da parte di una persona meschina che conosceva bene entrambe le vittime. Oh and also, one character who narrates great wedges of this novel is obsessed with physiognomy, so every gosh-darn time she meets someone we get variants of this: No, I don’t know Japanese, so yes I missed all the puns and rhymes and whatever other language play Kirino was sub consciously plying.
The main focus seems to on power dynamics. Natsuo Kirino is an angry woman, she hates the patriarchal Japanese society,so she writes about what sort of evil Well, there’s too much of self-loathing, jealousy and depression, you’d either want to throw the damn book away or, you know, stay awake till three in the morning reading it.
Probably not, I do not even know if degrees of truth can be different. Here are a few favourite examples: Caught in its pages are a schoolgirl prostitute, two incestuous love affairs, one suicide and a pair of sexual murders: There are tons of fascinating books out there. Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino. In fact, the novel is full of lies and deception as we untangle the events and the lives of the three women. However, Kirino being Kirino, I don’t have to trust her to learn something worth knowing.
Female oriented story, seething with hatred, perversion, sickness of mind, and violence -about two sisters, the younger one, a beauty as never witnessed on earth, who spellbound people who look at her, a beauty so beautiful as to appear grotesque, the unfortunate elder sister who is average in mind as well as body, who is seething with resentment and hatred.
This could be Hatter, the resemblance is eerie If that’s the case, read this book, there can’t be a better book for that purpose. This book peers into the abyss of human conceit. This in turn only isolates her more and ends up having jumping from bad job to another bad one.
